The Goddess of the Lost Tribe

On February 4th, the Goddess of the Lost Tribe by artist Julius Dorsey became permanent on the walls of Overflow Coffee. We are honored to have this piece in our home. This piece was originally going to be about currency. Julius Dorsey says, “I read a lot and decided currency is created by manufacturing consensus and leveraging what people already believe in to establish power. I started thinking about things that I believe in and how power is experienced in my life and I ended up being flooded with many thoughts. I didn't know it at the time I made it but it was heavy influenced by the mother of my children, and by extension the power dynamic between black women and men.”
